How To Draw Manga Male Bodies

Unlike females, guys have flat chests (of course) and not much hip. Keep in mind guys stand differently from girls and their girls tend to be a part and do not curve inwards

Drawing The Chest

As an artist it’s good to know the muscles underneathe the skin. maybe not all of them because there is a lot, but here are a few key muscles which make up the chest you should keep in mind.

Body Types

Did you ever wonder why in girl’s manga there are only skinny guys? Well contrary to popular belief, girls who read manga tend to like guys who are tall and skinny (model like). Whereas in boy’s manga, or action manga, you will find more muscular built guys. Keep this in mind when you draw male characters. There are always exceptions but if you compare manga you will see these traits are common!

How To Draw Manga Female Bodies

The female body is usually very delicate. Girls in anime stand a certain way to emphasize cuteness, with their feet facing slgihtly inwards.

Drawing Breasts

A slightly awkward subject, but yet one that must be explained as it apart of the female body. Breasts do come in different shapes and sizes. Unless you’re drawing something extremely perverted like, ridiculous large breasts which are unrealistic because the weight would break your character’s back. As an artist be aware of what is realistic and what is sexualized fantasy when drawing girls.

Drawing The Butt

This is also pandering to the sexunes sof the manga lady, but it is good to know how to draw the butt cheeks, when drawing a character from behind.

Be Aware of Loli Proportions

Often people copy anime girls, and they pick up bad loli proportions. Be aware that realistic young girls ddo not have sexy fetures. If that’s what you like to draw, then that’s fine. Just know breasts and hips don’t start to show till about age 13 when puberty sets in.

japanimationgirl asked: can you give tutorials for different manga styles like for those are more realistic, aimed at teens, and aimed at little kids? Also explain possibly these types of characters, a loli and a shota and how they are normally/usually drawn too?

At the moment i’m making tutorials for how to draw male and female manga. I’ll see if i can do that after i finished the tutorials i’m working on right now.

jesstheperfectionist asked: I can draw half of a face fine, the problem is actually doing the other half. It never looks right. tips?

This was one of my initial problems as well. It can only be fixed with a lot of practice. Also don’t try to make the exactly the same. Faces and generally bodies mustn’t look exact from every perspective. That’s what makes them more realistic. You’ll understand what i mean if you continue practicing :D
